NWS Public Information Statements and Local Storm Reports for the 13 watched US stations on the Forecasts page. Spotter and trained-observer reports of snowfall, hail, wind damage, flooding, and tornadoes — the events that don’t make it into hourly ASOS observations. International stations are out of scope; NWS only issues these products for US territory.

Local Storm Reports come via Iowa Environmental Mesonet’s LSR GeoJSON feed, which aggregates every NWS WFO’s preliminary storm reports in one structured response. Each event has a time, type, magnitude with unit, lat/lon coordinates, source attribution (Public, Trained Spotter, CoCoRaHS, NWS Employee, AWOS, etc.), and free-text remarks. The page fetches the last N hours nationwide and filters client-side to the 13 WFOs covering your watched stations (MTR · STO · HNX · ALY · BOX · BTV · LWX · MLB · HGX · SLC · CLE · RAH). The “Near” chip narrows further to events within ~75 miles of a specific station.

Public Information Statements are linked through to the raw NWS text product on weather.gov rather than parsed inline — PNS varies too much by office for a single parser. The richer tabular snow-spotter PNS issued by Burlington, Boston, Albany, and Cleveland during winter storms is queued as a follow-up phase. Reports are preliminary and subject to revision; final certified records live at NCEI.
